Practice tasks

Insurance is the best kind of practice: the premium is arithmetic you can check, and the forms change shape as you answer them.

1. Quote

  1. Open each cover type and assert the form shows only the fields that type needs.
  2. Submit an empty health quote and assert every validation message.
  3. Enter an age of 17 and assert it is rejected; 18 should pass.
  4. Switch to Car insurance and assert the IDV and car age fields appear and the age field disappears.
  5. Enter an IDV below 50,000 and assert the error.
  6. Switch to Travel and assert the trip length and destination fields appear.

2. Plans and premium

  1. Assert the plan count matches the number of result cards.
  2. Compute the health premium yourself: rate x cover/500000 x age factor x members x city tier, then assert the number on screen.
  3. Tick I smoke on the quote and assert every premium goes up by 25%.
  4. Filter by one insurer and assert only its plans remain.
  5. Drag the premium slider and assert no card shows a higher premium.
  6. Tick Claim settlement 95% and above and assert each remaining plan qualifies.
  7. Sort by premium ascending and by claim settlement, and assert both orders.

3. Proposal

  1. Submit the proposal empty and assert each required field is named.
  2. Enter an invalid PAN and assert the format error.
  3. Choose nominee relationship Child and assert the age and guardian fields appear.
  4. Set the nominee age to 12 and assert the guardian name becomes required.
  5. Tick existing illness and assert two new required fields appear.
  6. Assert the 15% loading is added to the premium only after the illness is declared.
  7. Tick an add-on and assert the payable amount changes by the add-on price plus GST.

4. Payment

  1. Switch to monthly payment and assert the 6% loading and the twelve-instalment schedule.
  2. Apply SAVE10 and assert 10% comes off the premium.
  3. Apply EXPIRED and assert the code is rejected.
  4. Choose UPI and assert the card fields disappear and the UPI field is required.
  5. Enter a 15 digit card number and assert the error.
  6. Pay and assert the policy number format.

5. Claims

  1. Try to claim with no policy and assert the empty state.
  2. Claim more than the cover amount and assert the error.
  3. Write fewer than 20 characters in the description and assert the error.
  4. Claim 40,000 with all three documents ticked and assert the status is Approved.
  5. Claim 80,000 and assert the status is Under review.
  6. Claim with a missing document and assert it goes to review whatever the amount.
  7. Cancel a policy and assert it can no longer be claimed against.
